FORMER York City loanee Danny Amos is a free agent after departing Grimsby Town.

Amos, who was on loan at York during the 2023/24 Vanarama National League season, has departed parent club Grimsby after the club opted to not extend his contract.

The left-back is now a free agent after two seasons with Grimsby, making 51 appearances for the Mariners which included promotion from the National League back into the English Football League after success in the play-offs.

Amos joined York on a loan deal until the end-of-the-season in February, making 14 appearances for the Minstermen as Adam Hinshelwood's side avoided relegation from the National League.

The 24-year-old became a regular under both Hinshelwood and former boss Neal Ardley, providing competition to Thierry Latty-Fairweather and Adam Crookes in the left-back position.

After returning to Grimsby upon the expiration of his loan deal, the club have confirmed that Amos is one of 11 players to be released by David Artell's side.

The Mariners' retained list also confirmed that fellow former City loanee Alex Hunt remains contracted to Grimsby for another season.
