YORK City have teamed up with a big name to host a community day in the city.

The club and the Pavers Foundation are hosting a Community Day in the Minstermen’s Vanarama National League clash with Rochdale on Monday, August 28 (3pm) in support of Ukraine Appeal.

Throughout York’s match with Rochdale, the club will be helping to raise awareness for the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, with City looking to raise money in aid of those in Ukraine.

The club’s mascot Yorkie the Lion has recently been working with Stuart Paver and the Pavers Foundation on a number of charitable projects, with Yorkie set to join Stuart in Ukraine via the road in September.

Donations will be made in York’s match with Aldershot at the end of August to support Stuart and Yorkie, after Stuart previously delivered aid to Lviv, Kiev, Cherkasy, Odesa and Kerson.

In support of the campaign, the club will be distributing 50 tickets to displaced Ukrainians currently situated in the York area, bucket collections will be passed around the ground and awareness will be spread through the matchday programme, stadium announcement and more yet to be announced.

The fixture against Rochdale has also been selected for the Community Day as it comes just four days after Ukraine Independence Day, which is celebrated on Thursday, August 24, as well as the Dale also being twinned with Lviv.

All funds will be donated towards helping the cause in Ukraine, with the Pavers Foundation already raising £330,000 to help purchase life-saving supplies and essential items.
