ENGLAND Men's Six Nations open training session at the LNER Community Stadium has officially SOLD OUT.

Some 8,500 fans will head to the city's stadium tomorrow morning to watch Steve Borthwick's side continue their preparations ahead of the final two rounds of the competition.

The York Stadium Management Company say that is is the first time that the stadium has officially sold out since its opening - with the highest previous attendance the 8,209 that attended Leeds United's pre-season friendly with Monaco in July 2023.

That figure eclipsed the 7,448 that attended York City's Vanarama National League North Play-off final victory over Boston United. Though both sets of supporters sold-out their allocations that day, they say that crowd segregation meant that a reduced capacity was in place.

Tickets for the training session, which will take place from 10:30am to approximately 12pm tomorrow, were priced at just a £1 booking fee.

The York Stadium Management Company last night confirmed that the event had sold out in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying:

"All tickets for this Friday's England Rugby Men's Open Training Session are now SOLD OUT!

"This is the first time that we've sold out the stadium since its opening in 2021. See you there!"

Marcus Smith and Alex Mitchell have joined England's three-day training camp in the city as they continue their rehabilitations from injury.

Scrum-half Mitchell, who started England’s victories over Italy and Wales, returns to the squad after recovering from a twisted knee in training, whilst Harlequins fly-half Smith has not yet featured in this year’s championship following a calf issue.

There is however no place for Exeter winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, among the scorers in Saturday’s 30-21 Calcutta Cup defeat to Scotland, as he must attend a face to face medical exam at Exeter University.

Tomorrow’s open training session will be the second of England’s Six Nations campaign, two weeks on from their first such event at Twickenham on February 16.

Borthwick is excited to visit York for the session, which he hopes will bring the supporters closer to the action.

He enthused: “The players and coaches want to bring the supporters as close to this team as possible, so we are looking forward to heading to York to do just that.

“It’s exciting to be able to put on open training sessions like this, both in Twickenham and in York, because it’s a chance for us to show the supporters how hard we are working behind-the-scenes.”

England will return to action against Grand Slam-chasers Ireland at Twickenham on March 9.

Only victory against Andy Farrell’s side will keep them in title contention ahead of their final match against France in Lyon a week later.
