TADCASTER Albion face another stern test of their Evo-Stik League division one north credentials on Saturday as they travel to third-placed Bamber Bridge (3pm).

The Brewers, enjoying life so far in this tier, rose to sixth place in midweek after a flying start brought them a 2-1 victory over Glossop North End, maintaining their unbeaten home record.

Manager Billy Miller had Tom Corner back from injury but named an unchanged team from the one that beat Radcliffe last weekend - and saw them open the scoring after just 26 seconds.

Conor Sellars gathered a high ball and hooked over the top of Glossop’s high back-line for Josh Greening to race through and round keeper Matthew Cooper.

It was nearly two inside four minutes as Gregg Anderson's header from a Sellars corner forced a decent save out of Cooper, with defenders helping out to clear.

Glossop had a hat-trick of chances themselves in an open game before winger Sellars - the smallest man on the pitch - rose to head home Taddy's second after only 12 minutes, from a clever Rob Youhill cross.

Ben Richardson responded for the Hillmen midway through the first half with a looping header from Mohamud Ali's cross to make it 2-1 - the goal allowed to stand despite Jonathan Greening claiming a push.

The next big refereeing call went Albion's way as Glossop's claims for a penalty after Maz Leonard drove at Jason Mycoe were waved away.

In an exciting first half, Jimmy Beadle beat Cooper with a header only for Glossop full-back Martin Parker to clear, while at the other end, Taddy keeper Michael Ingham made a terrific point-blank save to deny Richardson.

Youhill, enjoying a fine night, almost made it 3-1 when breaking away at speed from a Glossop corner, firing just off target, while Cooper twice denied the tricky Sellars.

The second half wasn’t as action-packed but Taddy held on as Glossop ramped up the pressure seeking an equaliser.

Michael Norton went increasingly close, most notably so when his glancing header hit the woodwork and rolled across goal to safety.

Deep in stoppage time, Jamie Rainford looked to burst clean through but Andy Milne recovered with an outstanding tackle.

Scarborough Athletic slipped to ninth in midweek with a 1-0 home loss to leaders Brighouse, Leon Osbourne getting the goal. The Seadogs go to Droylsden on Saturday.

National League North leaders Harrogate Town are back in FA Cup action on Saturday as they go to FC United of Manchester for a third qualifying round tie, favourites on league form to progress. Victory will leave them 90 minutes away from the first round proper.
