SCOTT Lincoln secured shot put victory at the Loughborough International just 24 hours after competing against some of the world's finest field stars at the prestigious Halle Throws event.

The City of York ace's whirlwind weekend saw him finish 12th in Germany with 18.58m after two earlier no throws.

It was the best line-up Lincoln, 23, had ever taken part in, with Poland's junior world record holder Konrad Bulkowiecki hurling the winning throw of 20.62m and two-time world champion and London 2012 Olympic silver medallist David Storl, of Germany, the runner-up.

GB number one Lincoln, who was also recently crowned Yorkshire champion, then landed back in the UK for a 2.30am arrival at his overnight hotel, before producing a winning distance at Loughborough of 19.45m - just 38cm adrift of his personal best set earlier this month.

That 19.83m effort remains 7cm short of the length needed to qualify for the European Championships in Amsterdam this July and 67cm light of the 20.5m Olympic mark required for August's Rio Games.

Lincoln's York team-mate Lucy Hadaway, meanwhile, smashed a 39-year-old long jump record at the Yorkshire County Championships held in Cudworth.

The record of 5.77m in the under-17 women's long jump had stood since 1977 before Hadaway jumped 5.84m to take the title.

She also added a silver medal in the 80m hurdles with a new personal best of 11.95s.

The other City of York medal winners were Mark Cage (senior men 110m hurdles silver and 400m hurdles gold), Daniel Fleming (senior men discus gold), Josh Dickinson (U15 boys silver), Eleanor Pegram (U15 girls 3000m gold), Amy Rolfe (U15 girls long jump), Coco Charters (U15 girls shot put bronze), Rebecca Campsell (senior women 200m and 100m gold), Sarah Parsons (senior women discus gold), Christina Nick (senior women shot put silver), Ben Whittaker (U17 men 100m and 200m gold), Edward Lake (U17 men 100m and 200m silver), Angus McMillan (U17 men 300m silver), Alex Botterill (U17 men 800m gold), Ben Schofield (U17 men hammer gold), Georgia Rothwell (U17 women 1500m bronze), Alice Linekar (U17 women 300m hurdles silver, 80m hurdles gold and long jump silver), Abigail Burton (U17 javelin gold), George Davies (U20 men javelin gold), Vivian Lewis (U20 women 100m bronze), Charlotte Stamp (U20 women 400m and 400m hurdles gold), Alex Tetley (U20 women javelin silver) and Rachel White (U20 women javelin bronze and long jump silver), .
