PLAYER-BOSS Jack Stearman says New Earswick ARLC are not minded to change the way they play despite their rotten result last week.

All Blacks' proud home record in the Pennine League championship came a cropper as they fell 16-6 to Queensbury amid wind and rain.

They stay at White Rose Avenue this week - against a Mirfield side with a 100 per cent league record.

Said Stearman: "Queensbury played the conditions a lot better. It was a horrible day and a boggy pitch. We try to play expansive rugby but that's no excuse."

Asked if they would change their style in poor weather, Stearman said: "That's how we enjoy playing and we want to keep enjoying playing so we won't change unless it's absolutely necessary."

As regards playing the leaders, he said: "It's not going to be easy.

"We've not had a great season but we're at home and we need to try to get the win. Hopefully we'll have a few players back from injury and play the way we know we can."

Selby Warriors face another test of their promotion credentials in division two as they host Eastmoor Dragons a week after falling 26-10 to leaders Cutsyke.

Selby stayed behind third-placed Eastmoor on points-difference after that result.

Sherburn Bears go into their top-of-the-table division four east clash with Doncaster Toll Bar on Saturday (2.30pm) in high spirits after destroying Wortley Dragons 72-10 last time out.

The Bears went to the summit after racking up their eighth straight win against a side that could field only ten men but put up a commendable performance.

The Bears, perhaps thinking it would be easy, fell behind after only three minutes. But they burst into life, hitting back quickly and adding four more tries in the first half to lead 28-6.

They piled on the misery in the second half, scoring seven tries, before Wortley grabbed a consolation on the back of sloppy errors.

Connor Jordan and Jordan Richards scored hat-tricks for the Bears, while Matt Orford (2), Ben Pugh (2), Ronnie Roebuck, Scotty Towell and captain Ray Boyes also crossed. Richards booted 11 goals from 13 attempts.
