WANT to see a rugby league training session through the eyes of a player?
York City Knights back-rower Ed Smith and half-back Jonny Presley wore a head camera for pre-season sessions at the Knights' Haxby Road training base.
Head coach James Ford authorised the recordings which capture the team going through their paces in preparation for the Kingstone Press League One campaign, and what is as eye-opening as the video is the audio - not only the professional outlook but the amount of "small talk" involved, such as encouragement and communication, terminology and codewords as the players run through set plays.
These clips are in addition to the previous recordings released by the Knights of the players in training.
Said Ford: "It's a useful tool that demonstrates in some small part the preparation that goes on at this level of rugby league and what professional players do to make sure they're ready to play such a fast, skilful and physical sport.
"It's good for young players and coaches to see what takes place and also hear the 'small talk' that goes during sessions which is conducive to improving standards."
