CAN he do it again today? That is the burning question as Richard Fahey bids for major prizes at Ascot and Redcar this afternoon as he aims to continue his run of sensational Saturdays.

Two weeks ago, the Malton trainer sent out six winners on the day – which included the Ayr Gold and Silver Cups and the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.

Then last week saw him saddle three winners and bag the Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket with Third Time Lucky, who picked-up a near £100,000 first prize.

This afternoon, Fahey has a four-strong squad in the £150,000 totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar and also a quartet of runners lining up in Ascot's £180.000 Totescoop6 Challenge Cup.

Mayfair Lady and Mr Lupton look the pick of his squad in Redcar's feature race. The former scooted home in a hot nursery at York's Ebor Festival before getting bogged down in the mud in Group 3 company at Salisbury, while Mr Lupton secured a similar race to today's at Doncaster's St Leger meeting when getting home narrowly from Humphrey Bogart.

There may not be a lot to choose between the pair but, on ratings, MAYFAIR LADY is entitled to come out marginally best under Tony Hamilton.

Not that it's a two-horse race by any means, with a full complement of 23 runners – which includes the useful Richard Hannon-trained pair Orvar and Log Out Island.

At Ascot, Tatlisu and Heaven's Guest may be the best two of Fahey's representatives in the featured handicap.

Preference is for HEAVEN'S GUEST, who seldom runs a poor race in these contests and is proven over this course and distance.

With Sammy Jo Bell on board, claiming 3lb off his back, he should go well for Fahey on a day when the Musley Bank trainer has fancied runners all around the country – including with EASTERN IMPACT in Ascot's John Guest Bengough Stakes.

Jack Garritty's mount has been running at a very high level this season and won in Listed company at Chester after finishing third in the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket.

His latest seventh-placed effort in the Haydock Park Sprint was a creditable one and he deserves attention dropped back in class once more.

Staying with Ascot, HILLSTAR with Jamie Spencer on board may be the solution to the Gigaset Cumberland Lodge Stakes. Sir Michael Stout's charge is a previous course and distance winner and may have needed his latest outing after a break.

The speedy DUTCH MASTERPIECE (2.00) and BARNET FAIR (4.55), who journeys down from David Nicholls' North Yorkshire yard with proven course-winning form, are two others to note.

Back at Redcar, nap SO BELOVED is fancied to show his rivals a clean pair of heels in the totescoop6 Guisborough Stakes, which carries Listed status.

David O'Meara's five-year-old, a York winner earlier this season, has since won a major handicap at Goodwood and the Group 3 Supreme Stakes at the same course.

He has a penalty to carry here but the seven furlongs will suit him ideally – whereas the trip may catch out Brian Ellison's classy and consistent Top Notch Tonto, who is probably better served these days over a mile and beyond.

The Pinnacle Cup Straight Mile Series Final looks a tricky race to solve but MYSTIC MIRAAJ comes right into the reckoning from the Tim Easterby stable.

The Great Habton gelding finished fourth to Echo Of Lightning over seven furlongs at Ayr a couple of weeks ago. This longer trip will suit him better.

Duran Fentiman has the ride, with Dave Allan aboard Father Bertie, another Easterby runner with good prospects on a course where he has won in the past.

Easterby can also clinch the Market Cross Jewellers Handicap with DANCE KING.

The five-year-old finished a good fourth at Ayr on his latest start and may be slightly more streetwise than Fahey's Pontefract winner High Baroque, who will be having only his second race on turf and his first against seasoned handicappers.

Also worth noting on Redcar's biggest racing day of the year, but one which coincides with the devastating news for the town of the liquidation of the steelworks, are the promising FANG (1.50) and the speedy PERARDUA (5.50), yet another from the Fahey stable.
