TEN man Tadcaster Albion crashed out of the FA Cup 5-2 to Colne at Ings Lane.

An action packed first half saw three penalties, four goals and a red card as Billy Miller's side exited the world's most famous cup competition at the preliminary round stage.

The Brewers broke the deadlock inside four minutes. Josh Greening's inviting free kick was met by Matt Heath's towering header.

They were in control for the first quarter of the clash but, on 27 minutes, Colne were level.

Ben Allen got involved in a tussle with Heath and the referee gave a controversial penalty. Danny Boyle smashed the spot kick right down the middle to equalise.

Albion then received an immediate penalty of their own.

Jimmy Beadle was judged to have been tripped and Liam Ormsby converted past Chris Thompson.

The tie took a huge twist nine minutes before the break. Chris Anderson took the ball round Gary Stevens in the Tadcaster net and struck goalwards only to see his shot blocked by Jordan Armstrong's hand.

That brought a third penalty and saw Albion reduced to ten as Armstrong received a straight red. Boyle side-footed into the bottom right corner and the scores were 2-2 at the break.

The Brewers reshuffled for the second half to two banks of four and tried to frustrate their North West Counties opponents. Adam Baker hit a stinging shot which Thompson kept out but Stevens was the far busier of the two goalkeepers.

He pulled off an incredible save on the hour mark from Allen to keep the scores level but Colne took the lead in style in the 73rd minute.

Full-back Ben Hoskin received the ball 30 yards out, was not closed down, and struck it sweetly into the top left corner to give the Lancashire side a crucial lead.

Colne wrapped up the match with two late goals.

Danny Boyle squared to Allen to make it 4-2 and, in the 90th minute, Taddy substitute Dan Clayton gave the ball away in his own half which allowed Boyle to again simply square to Chris Anderson to tap in and send them into the next round of the FA Cup.

Pickering Town suffered a heavy home defeat at the hands of Clitheroe as they also went out of the competition. The Pikes lost 6-1 at the Recreation Ground.

Also in the FA Cup, Scarborough Town crashed to a 2-0 defeat at Consett while Harrogate Railway and Spennymoor Town will have to do it all again after a 0-0 draw.

Dominic Blair struck a brace as Selby Town lost 4-2 to Hemsworth Miners Welfare in Northern Counties East League division one.

The Robins took the lead at Flaxley Road through Craig Muirhead in the 24th minute but trailed at the break to Blair's first goal and a Jack Steers effort on the stroke of half-time.

Chris Kamara levelled two minutes after the restart but Blair's second and a Nash Connolly goal a quarter of an hour from the end secured the points.

Knaresborough Town and Yorkshire Amateur shared a 2-2 draw.

Harrogate Town won 1-0 at Chorley in National League North.
