AFTER three bumper Saturdays in a row, Malton trainer Richard Fahey bids for another at Glorious Goodwood this afternoon in the £250,000 Qatar Stewards Cup.

TATLISU, the mount of George Chaloner, aims for this jackpot prize on behalf of a North Yorkshire trainer who last Saturday won the £150,000 Gigaet International Handicap with Heaven's Guest.

The previous Saturday, it was the turn of Lathom to lead home a 1-2-4 for Fahey in the £250,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint, while the Saturday before he saddled four winners – which included the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket with Birchwood, the Bunbury Cup with Rene Mathis and a Listed race at Chester with Dusky Queen.

The Stewards' Cup is a fiercely competitive handicap but Tatlisu is proven in big-field events, finished runner-up in the Scottish version of this race at Hamilton on his latest mount and is one of many in the field with strong claims.

Luck will be needed to clinch this six-furlong dash but Tatlisu, drawn 16, certainly has a fighting chance of providing Fahey with another 'Super Saturday'.

The Musley Bank trainer will also be strongly represented in the £75,000 Qatar Stewards' Sprint Handicap, which provides a consolation race for those horses which fail to make the cut in the main event.

Fahey has four useful contenders in the frame, the best of which could well prove to be JAN VAN HOOF, winner of both his races this season and still largely unexposed.

It would be no surprise, however, to see any of his stable companions – Lexi's Hero, Canyari or Arctic Feeling – figuring in the shake-up.

The £600,000 Qatar Nassau takes pride of place as the richest race on the final day of Glorious Goodwood.

The vote in this Group 1 contest goes to LEGATISSIMO to gain her short-head revenge over Diamondsandrubies in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh and also gain handsome compensation for another short-head defeat in the Epsom Oaks, when she was denied by 50-1 shot Qualify.

Also worthy of note at Goodwood are the talented DARTMOUTH (2.35) and the promising SHAHBAR (4.20).

The Thirsk meeting is highlighted by the £30,000 totepool Thirsk Summer Cup, in which ZACYNTHUS is fancied to return to winning form after finishing only third at Wetherby last week when sent off favourite.

Beaten little more than length that day by first home Slemy, Zacynthus – a previous winner at Ayr – is fancied to be suited by this step up to a mile. Furthermore, he is well berthed in stall six.

The Peter Bell Memorial Handicap, with £15,000 in prize money, sees TWIN APPEAL heading the weights. But trainer David Barron has taken steps to reduce his welter 9st 12lb by booking accomplished apprentice Rob Hornby, who claims a valuable 5lb allowance.

Hornby was in the saddle when Twin Appeal finished a length second to Order Of Service at Newcastle last time. A Doncaster winner in May, he can resume winning ways here.

The Yorkshire Outdoors Nursery Handicap looks a tightly-knit affair but ASTLEY HALL promises to be in the thick of the action after being caught on the line at York just a week ago.

A similar effort from Fahey's speedy juvenile here gives him strong claims, especially as has drawn the stall nearest the favoured stands rail.

Stable companion STAMP HILL has not been as fortunate with his draw in the opening British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes but this promising colt still makes plenty of appeal as a nap choice.

Previously trained in Ireland by Johnny Murtagh, Stamp Hill ran a blinder to occupy a mid-field position in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot last month after a tardy start and meeting trouble in running more than once. Dropped into maiden company here, he should be too classy for his rivals.

The consistent ERIK THE RED (4.45) and INTENSE TANGO (5.20), who developed into a very useful hurdler last season, are two others to keep in mind at the North Yorkshire track.
