OSBALDWICK are mounting a serious Foss Evening League division one title charge after clocking up their fifth successive win.

They are just three points adrift of leaders Woodhouse Grange who lost for the second week in succession.

Jonny Rawsthorne (37) got Osbaldwick off to a flier against North Dalton before Tom Young blasted 83 which included nine sixes. Andy Horner maintained the momentum with 34 off 11 balls which included a one-handed six to get off the mark. Facing a formidable 187-5, Dalton were struggling at 16-2 after six overs and lost by 41 runs.

Woodhouse lost by one run in a thriller against Pocklington who made 126-7 with Andy Anderson (44) top scoring. Woodhouse looked set to chase the score down comfortably, but were rocked by the loss of Chris Bilton (23) and Scott Shepherd (45) in consecutive balls to Alex Downey (5-13) shook and they were bowled out with three balls remaining.

Heworth gained their second win of the season by beating York by 45 runs. Opener Neil Martin (50) got Heworth off to a great start before Rich Walton smashed 108 as Heworth amassed 195-5.

Twelve- year-old Harry Griffiths took 3-8 from nine balls overs as Dunnington bowled out Stamford Bridge for 101. Adam Sutcliffe (37) and Gareth Miles (44no) saw Dunnington to an eight-wicket win.

Bubwith’s charge to the division two title continued with a thrashing of the team that was closest to them at the top, Bishopthorpe. Only Scott Clapham (63) performed in a Bishops total of 104 as Craig Lawson bowled four of the middle order batsman to finish with 4-24. Richard Readman (37) and Charles Lambert (56no) saw Bubwith home.

Mike Millington struck an undefeated 47 as Dunnington Academy posted 112-7 against Londesborough Park who struggled to 89-8 at the close. Arran Reid's 2-6 including a wicket maiden and a maiden.

Melbourne’s Freddie Collins made 69 against Yapham, which included three sixes four boundaries. Melbourne’s 134-7 was never seriously challenged.

Stockton & Hopgrove were blown away by Ovington’s superb bowling and fielding display. Ovington opener Stefan Littlewood (47) dominated his side’s 103-9. Stockton were skittled for just 35, Dom Kitching earning 4-16 and Joe Bateson included a wicket maiden in his 4-1-6-1. They were backed up by Tom Armes who took four catches at mid-on, two held inches from the ground.

The Colts proved too strong for the Nomads in the Heworth derby, reversing the result from the opening fixture of the season. Tom Matthewson (53) led the Colts to 153-3 and Nomads made a disastrous start to their reply with a first over wicket maiden, followed by a double wicket maiden before Greg Sykes (58) restored some respectability.

The Retreat 1st XI’s unbeaten start to the season continued with victory at Thixendale, Salman Syed (61no) and Chris Allerton (48no) sharing a partnership of 92 runs.

Kudrat Ali was again in devastating form for Retreat's 2nd XI as he blasted 90 not out against Westow, smashing 10 sixes, as Retreat powered home in just over 12 overs.
