ACCRINGTON Stanley will be without loan stars Sean Maguire and John O’Sullivan for their visit to York City this afternoon.

Both of the Republic of Ireland youth international’s three-month deals at Stanley have lapsed with Maguire returning to West Ham and O’Sullivan back at Blackburn.

Maguire marked his final game for Accrington with the equaliser in a 1-1 home draw against table-topping Wycombe at the weekend, meaning he headed back south having matched O’Sullivan’s record of scoring four goals in 13 starts for the Crown Ground outfit.

The pair have been ever-presents following their mid-September arrivals and have helped John Coleman’s side recover from an opening to the season that saw seven defeats and just two wins from the first ten fixtures.

Their efforts have helped lift Accrington to 11th place in the Sky Bet League Two standings just four points adrift of a play-off place.

With both having departed, Piero Mingoia and James Gray are expected to earn recalls to the first XI.

Gray remains this term’s leading marksman on five goals, but has not found the net in eight outings and has been an unused substitute for the last six matches.

At the other end of the pitch, meanwhile, Accrington’s season-long goalkeeping problems show no sign of relenting with the club having used six different players between the sticks this season.

Teenage West Brom shot-stopper Jack Rose has become the third on-loan net-minder to become crocked playing for Stanley in 2014/15.

His hip injury follows on from Jesse Joronen returning to Fulham with serious damage to his knee and Aaron Chapman going back to Chesterfield having undergone ankle surgery.

The trio’s troubles mean ex-Oldham keeper Luke Simpson, who kicked off the season with the gloves, made his first start for four months against Wycombe.

Simpson had been ex-boss James Beattie’s first choice when the campaign begun but was shown a red card during his fourth appearance and had only been used as a substitute for Chapman and Joronen before his recall at the weekend.

Ex-Bolton trainee Jay Lynch started the first match of Simpson’s suspension but was only on non-contract terms and went on to sign for Salford City, with 19-year-old Joe Lumley also brought in from QPR for a month to take over in goal.

Rose’s injury, meanwhile, has seen Andrew Dawber return from a loan spell at Clitheroe to provide cover on the bench.

Accrington’s lack of goalkeeping continuity has contributed to a run of ten league games without a clean sheet – a sequence stretching back to the 1-0 at Mansfield on October 4.

That has been offset somewhat, however, by the team’s record of scoring in all but one of their last 18 matches in the division.

Defender Adam Buxton (thigh) is Stanley’s only current outfield injury absentee.

Accrington (probable): Simpson, Hunt, Aldred, Atkinson, Winnard, McCartan, Joyce, Procter, Gray, Mingoia, Naismith.
