FULFORD ran out 5-1 winners over Heworth in the only game played in the latest round of York Conservative Clubs' Billiards League fixtures.

James Lee (23 break) beat Mark Winskill (36 break) by 150-50 to open the scoring for Fulford followed by Wayne Puleston (32 break) defeating Brian Birch comfortably 150-95.

Gary Rogers secured Heworth's solitary point with a nail-biting win over Glen Mountain. Gary had breaks of 51, 61 and 87, the highest of the season so far, but only won by one point - 150-149 - because of his prohibitive handicap.

Terry Ward, playing off a handicap of minus 120, also had his work cut out. Playing off -45, his opponent Darren Clark began with a 46 break. Ward compiled efforts of 35, 52 and 31 but Clark led 138-68 and needed only 12 more for the match.

He didn't get another shot as Ward put together a break of 82 to seal a remarkable victory.

The last match was won 150-145 by Alan Reed against Keith Watkinson. The latter had trailed by more than 40 points before failing by just five.
