PAUL HANAGAN, who has a vast array of up and coming equine talent at his disposal, teams up with one potential future star at Newmarket today.

The jockey's chief supporter, Shiekh Hamdan Al Maktoum owns numerous juveniles who have created a good impression this season and who promise to develop into high-class performers next year, and Fannaan, who made a striking winning debut at Haydock four weeks ago, is one of them.

The strapping John Gosden-trained colt makes his second appearance this afternoon in the AR Legal Collections Houghton Conditions Stakes and, despite the presence of the classy Hawkesbury, who chased home Dewhurst winner Belardo in the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury a couple of months ago, he commands the utmost respect.

Fannaan won by more than three lengths at Haydock and did his best work in the closing stages, leaving the suggestion that the extra furlong he faces will be to his benefit.

Although this is only a four-runner affair, it is no easy task, but Fannaan looks an exciting colt and is fancied to fulfil his enormous promise - and provide Hanagan with something else to look forward to in 2015.

The former Malton-based jockey, now based in Newmarket, can also win the 'Group 1 Credit Management' Nursery Handicap on Lashkaal, also trained by Gosden, who supplied Hanagan with an Oaks and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes victory this year, courtesy of the brilliant Taghrooda.

Lashkaal, a daughter of Teofilio, has shown a useful level of ability in three maidens and finished fourth here and at Doncaster on her latest two outings. She is now into handicap company and, not looking overburdened, is napped to come good.

Hanagan, who is fast approaching his 100th winner of the season, has yet another winning chance on Alnashama in the Newmarket Equine Secuirity Maiden Stakes.

Trained by Charlie Hills, the two-year-old was a beaten favourite at Newcastle early in the month, but failed by only a head to beat Dagher and lost no caste in defeat. He is fancied to go one better.

No Poppy can strike a blow for North Yorkshire at HQ by winning the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Fillies' Handicap for Tim Eatersby, pictured.

A stalwart of Easterby's Great Habton yard, No Poppy is a nine-times winner, her latest success coming at Haydock three starts back. She finished a creditable third to Homage at York on her latest outing 12 days ago and will relish the expected soft ground. She ought to go well in the hands of the in-form David Allan.

At Kempton's evening meeting, North Yorkshire jockey Danny Tudhope teams up with Spanish Squeeze in the British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes.

Hugo Palmer's juvenile finished a good third to Consort on his debut at Newmarket at the end of last month. If he copes with this switch to an artificial surface, he should make Tudhope's long journey south well worthwhile.

Also worthy of attention are Freddy Tylicki's mount Natural Nine (6.55), trained by Roger Varian and a creditable second at Beverley last time out, and Roger Charlton's Mountain Rescue (8.25), a fluent debut maiden winner on this course, who is now into handicap company. Oisin Murphy takes the mount on this potentially smart son of High Chaparral.
