SLICK finishing yielded a valuable Yorkshire League division two success for Acomb Ladies at Otliensians.
In an open game, the home side started well forcing the Tangerine defence into action. Jane Elsworth, Caroline Beavers and Paula Ridge coped well and Acomb’s midfield four started to push forward.
After missing a chance, Wendy Watson made amends soon after when she forced in from close range.
Deservedly the home side equalised with five minutes left in the first half. But the Acomb response was immediate. Georgi Wood found Kerry Woods, who drove into the circle before unleashing a reverse strike that slammed into the net.
The second half remained goalless though Acomb had fine performers in Jen Oldroyd and player of the match Rachel Linfoot.
