RYEDALE racer Nick Carr triumphed at the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire to seal the BTRDA Rally First Championship on home soil.
The 20-year-old Barton-le-Willows driver triumphed in the North York Moors forests in tandem with co-driver Joe Sturdy, an Oxford University student from Hull.
Driving their VW Lupo 1.4, they enjoyed their third victory of the BTRDA Rally First series for 1400cc or 1600cc cars to seal the championship with one round to spare.
They did not finish one previous round or start another, but the three wins coupled with three second places was enough to secure success in their first year in this particular series.
Said Carr: “This is only our second year rallying. In our first year we did the one-litre championship and finished second overall. This year we stepped up to the Rally First and have now won it.”
