YORK Lokomotive ARLC crashed to a shock 10-6 defeat at home to basement side Scarborough Pirates in group two of the Yorkshire League.

Lokos were left to rue a host of missed opportunities as the Pirates left New Lane off with a smash and grab victory.

The game was littered with spilled passes and knock ons due to atrocious weather conditions and the visitors built up a 1-0 half-time lead thanks to two long range tries.

The second period started well for the hosts, with prop Ben Hepworth crashing over and Tom Dunmore converting in the 41st minute.

Despite constant Lokos pressure, that was the only score of the half.

Lokos Athletic marked their debut match with a last-gasp 22-18 victory over a rugged Selby Warriors outfit.

Selby looked sharper in the early exchanges and deservedly took the lead with a converted try after 15 minutes.

However, the York side fought back with tries from impressive half-backs Ben Thompson (2) and Andy Henson. Henson added two conversions for a 16-6 interval lead.

Selby came out firing after the break and took the lead with two converted tries, but Lokos won the match with a break in the last minute. Full-back Stu Dickenson broke a tackle and ran half the length of the pitch before passing to Thompson. He fed Henson, who drew the full-back before sending David Jefferson over the line.

Henson converted.

A disappointing second half performance cost Heworth 'A' as they went down 42-14 at Normanton in Yorkshire League group two.

Hard-working prop Tom Speck opened the scoring with an unconverted try and they then kept the hosts at bay for 30 minutes before conceding a six pointer.

Heworth retaliated through skipper Joe Murphy, who crashed over for Joe Deighton to goal for a 10-6 lead at the break.

Normanton stepped up a gear after the interval and racked up six converted tries against a tiring defence.

Heworth's only reward was a second try for Speck.

The Villagers were well served by their crop of teenagers, in particular Lewis Hartley, Josh Turley and Ryan Martin.
