A CARER has admitted neglecting a resident in York.
April Faulkner, 54, appeared before York Crown Court last week charged with ill treatment or neglect by a care worker, relating to a resident of Primrose Villas in Horner Street, Clifton.
The court heard the incident involved snatching a phone from a resident while she attempted to use it.
It happened in July 2015, and Faulkner admitted a basis of plea.
The court heard Faulkner, of Askem in Doncaster, had consumed “one glass of wine, albeit a large one”, on the day of the incident, “after a small and early breakfast”, and the alcohol had had “a profound effect on her”.
She maintained she was not drunk, but others may have perceived her as being “strongly affected” by alcohol.
Faulkner denied other matters, and the Crown Prosecution Service now have until September 14 to decide whether to accept Faulkner’s plea, or to proceed to trial.
