THOUSANDS of people around the region caught a glimpse of the Red Arrows on Friday afternoon.

The famous display team flew north for the Sunderland International Airshow, following an event on the south coast.

They flew over Hull at 3.20pm before flying west, flying over Market Weighton, the A19 just south of York, the A64 between York and Tadcaster and then on towards Wetherby and then the north east.

Later in the afternoon, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft (a Lancaster, a Hurricane and a Spirfire) also flew over the region, on the way from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire to Sunderland. They flew north west over our area, passing over Goole, Skipwith, Deighton, Bishopthorpe, Dringhouses and Acomb then on north west of York.
