A MAN has been arrested for allegedly being concerned in the supply of a drug.

It comes after North Yorkshire Police released information last Tuesday about increasing calls for assistance to people in the Scarborough area who had overdosed on street Valium laced with Rohypnol.

A police spokesperson said: "As a result of community intelligence, a 33-year-old man from Scarborough has been arrested for being concerned in the supply of a class C drug. Forty tablets of what are believed to be street Valium tablets containing Rohypnol were recovered."

The man has been released on bail pending forensic examination.

Insp Graeme Kynman, Scarborough and Eastfield safer neighbourhood inspector, said: "I would like to personally thank the local community in coming forward with this information and helping North Yorkshire Police and our partner agencies tackle unlawful drugs within our community."
