STAFF at a York estate agents got all in a spin for charity.

Workers at Coalters in Low Ousegate celebrated the company's ninth birthday by keeping two spin bikes, provided by Energise York, in motion throughout the day.

In the process the persistent pedallers' spinathon raised £1,500 for St Leonard's Hospice.

Business administration manager Alex Rhodes said: "Coalters decided to support St Leonard's as it is a local charity, and investing back into the community is a key priority of the company.

"The bike ride wasn't easy - riding throughout the working day, that's almost 10 hours, with two agents cycling simultaneously to reach the goal right in the window of the Ousegate office."

Annie Keogh, from St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “Well done to the Coalters team for their efforts.

"We’re used to them peddling houses, not bikes, but this was a novel way of raising funds and it got their whole team involved.

"Every penny raised will be put to good use here at the hospice.”
