Autumn is poised for a bohemian rhapsody as floppy hats, floaty skirts and fringing return to vogue, reports MAXINE GORDON

BOHO is shaping up as the best sort of fashion for autumn.

The comforting mix of separates and clashes of fabrics and texture are just what you need when the weather starts to wane.

Teaming a summer's dress with a faux-fur gilet or long-line cardi or even cape - allows you to wear your favourite pieces for longer, but lend a nod to the coming season.

It is a confident look: inviting you to show off your flamboyant side with flair.

There is something Zorro-like about striding out in a dark cape and fedora - yet super stylish too (top tip: ditch the mask!).

The return of bohemian dressing dovetails with a revival of all things Seventies. It was supposed to be the decade that fashion forgot, but it seems we can't get enough of it.

Look out for flares, roll-neck tops and retro colours such as caramel, orange, aubergine and brown.

Fringing is swinging back again. It's everywhere, from bags and boots to jackets and cardis. It's worth saying that to avoid tying yourself in knots, pick just one item per outfit.
