A MUM-OF-THREE with a life-threatening heart condition has been taken back to hospital - as plans are put in place to raise funds for her children.

Amy Miller was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a congenital heart defect which caused her to spend years in hospital as a child, and was the cause of a heart attack at her parent's home in March.

Her parents were able to shock her heart back into a normal rhythm via a defibrillator attached to her organ and she was treated in hospital.

The 33-year-old was discharged and returned to her parent's home in Acomb where she continued to recover.

However, Amy's condition worsened and she was taken to Leeds General Infirmary on Wednesday and is awaiting an operation on her pulmonary valve.

Doctors are meeting the family on Tuesday to discuss placing her on the transplant list, but in the meantime, Amy's sister Katie is planning a mammoth fundraiser which will help provide holidays and trips for Amy's three children, Jessica, 13, Louise, nine, and Charlie, three.

Mum Margaret Miller said: "There's a lot of pressure on her heart and she went into hospital because it is getting worse.

"It's quite a dangerous operation so until Tuesday we are all up in the air about everything.

"We were going to go to Majorca but Amy can't go anymore.

"I said I didn't want to go without her but she wants me to go with her children because that's the kind of person she is."

The fundraising event for Amy takes place on August 30 from noon to 4pm at the Railway Institute in Hamilton Drive West, in Acomb.

There will be bouncy castles, a disco, food and games.

Katie said: "She doesn't get much money and she has a few things she wants to do with her kids, so we are doing this so we can create some nice memories for them.

"The last thing we want is for Amy to worry about money."
