A GRADE II listed building in York has been converted to apartments.
The building in Clifford Street was built for York's Rechabite Society to host their meetings in the mid-1800s, but has now been converted to nine flats over two and a half years.
Father and son Allan and Kris Hargreaves bought the building, which was disused and dilapidated, and managed to retain its original features, including a sweeping staircase in the communal entrance hallway, arched doorways and Juliet balconies.
Allan said: "The apartments are beautiful and all unique, with differing sizes and layouts. It was important to stay sympathetic to the original features throughout the restoration.
"When we first discovered the building, it was in a sorry state and had water pouring through the roof. But we saw its potential and have painstakingly restored it, working six days a week for the past two and a half years.
"I was born and bred in York which makes this project particularly special. It’s been a real labour of love and we’re excited to finally reveal the apartments to the public."
The building has a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments, ranging from 50 square metres to more than 200 square metres.
