TWO young girls were approached by a stranger in a car in Knaresborough on Saturday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the suspicious incident, which saw the two 12-year-old girls approached by a female motorist as they walked on The Spinney at around 12.30pm on Saturday, July 4.

The girls were pushing a young child in a pushchair when the driver of the small blue car gestured at the girls, then stopped the car, got out and told them to get into the car. The girls ran off and sought help nearby.

The woman is described as white, in her mid 60s, around 5ft 3ins tall, of slightly chubby build with grey, shoulder-length hair that was brushed back. The car is described as similar in size to a Vauxhall Corsa with three doors.
