TOP female scientists will be hosting a day of hands-on demonstrations and amazing gadgets at the Yorkshire Museum in York tomorrow to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The York branch of ScienceGrrl are hoping to share their passion for all things scientific, including talking about their research (such as biology, nuclear physics, particle detection development and astronomy) and showcasing demonstrations using diamonds, radioactive rocks and microscopes. The Cosmodome, a mobile planetarium, will also be running, with sessions available for sign-up on the day.

Dr Gemma Wilson will be there to meet the public and talk about her work with CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

Gemma, Science Grrl York coordinator, said: “This is a chance for people to come and have a go at scientific demonstrations and to meet some of the top female scientists who will be talking about their research. It is our aim to share our passion and inspire the next generation of women to find out more about the exciting scientific opportunities out there.”

The event is from 10am to 4pm and is included in the admission price to the Yorkshire Museum, which is free to York Card Holders.
