POLICE are calling for rallygoers to help them investigate a possible case of sabotage at a Dalby Forest car rally which led to 19 cars coming off the track.
The incident happened near a corner on stage one of the TrackRod Rally Yorkshire on Friday September 26.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said a pile of woodchips being used as a braking marker ahead of a corner was covered up with tree branches and officers believe this was done deliberately.
"With the braking marker hidden from view, the drivers had no indication of the upcoming corner and 19 cars came off the track", said the spokesman. No-one was injured.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or can help their inquiry to contact PC David Meer or Malton police.
