A MAN who was found seriously injured in a Yorkshire seaside town has died.

Police were called to Sewerby Road in Bridlington at 4.25am where a 39-year-old man was found unconscious and suffering a life-threatening wound. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man died from the injury at the scene.

Humberside Police said a vehicle was seen to leave the Sewerby Road area following the incident, and officers were sent out to locate it.

A vehicle containing four men thought to be connected with the incident was stopped in Seaton, near Hornsea, just before 5am, and all four men - aged 22, 27, 37 and 47 - were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A Humberside Police spokesman said the 47-year-old man is currently receiving treatment in Hull Royal Infirmary for injuries sustained during the incident, which were not believed to be life-threatening.

The spokesman said police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, and assured residents that it was confined to an address in Sewerby Road, and there is not thought to be any risk to the community.

A cordon remains in place at the property, and specially-trained officers are supporting the victim's family.

Anyone who saw the incident or heard the disturbance in the early hours of Wednesday should contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency phone number 101.
