ANOTHER York primary school looks set to go down the route of opting out of local authority control and becoming an academy.

Clifton with Rawcliffe (CwR) is consulting parents about becoming an academy and joining Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust which includes Archbishop Holgate’s CE secondary academy, Hempland, Badger Hill and Heworth CE primaries.

Head teacher, Andy Herbert said: “Our primary objective is to secure the ongoing success of CwR as a great school for all our children. We want to work with like-minded schools who share our vision and ethos. We are committed to engaging in a full and robust consultation with all relevant parties, taking into account the views of parents, carers, staff and the local community.”

“The education landscape is evolving and changing at a rapid rate. As an outward facing and proactive school, we want to be in control of shaping our future. We want to ensure our core values, our vision and our ethos thrives and flourishes in this changing world.

“The leadership of CwR recognizes that the local authority in York has always offered excellent support to all its schools but is no longer able to support and challenge schools in the way they have done in the past.

“Schools must now look to themselves to respond. The school feels that this will be best achieved through structured collaboration and partnerships in the form of a MAT.”

The governing body is keen to encourage everyone to take the time to get involved in the consultation.
